Software Toolbox released the TOP Server Version 5.5, its OPC and native HMI device connectivity software application. Powered by Kepware, Top Server 5.5 delivers enhancements to the main server and more than 20 drivers and plug-ins.

TOP Server 5.5 extends DNP WITS functionality with the implementation of Phase II support. WITS Phase II adds support for writing to DNP Object Groups 0 and 87 in keeping with the DNP WITS Standard.

The 5.5 release also includes the addition of a new SNMP Agent Plug-In which enables TOP Server to emulate an SNMP device on an Ethernet network. The SNMP Agent Plug-In supports SNMP version 1 and 2C as well as the UDP protocol.

“The SNMP Agent meets a critical market need,” said Colin Winchester, vice president of operations at Software Toolbox. “It enables Ethernet networks and their devices on the plant floor to be integrated with advanced IT monitoring systems that are utilizing the SNMP protocol.”

The software’s new PingItFirst utility ensures continuous connectivity to Ethernet-based devices and enhances the ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues. PingItFirst expands the capabilities of users to more effectively troubleshoot communications issues and more easily identify potential problem areas so they can be resolved in a timely fashion.

With TOP Server 5.5, Software Toolbox maintains its continuous improvement vision through modem support and tag creation enhancements. The built-in modem functionality for serial drivers has been enhanced to support auto-dialing and improved phone number management. In addition, a new multiple tag generation tool has been added to help users quickly create large numbers of tags in the server database.

Additional improvements in TOP Server Version 5.5 include:
- OPC UA Interface – Fixes and enhancements including support for two-dimensional arrays.
- Advanced Tags Plug-in – Support for CSV import and export.
- BACnet IP Driver – Support for device discovery on a BACnet Network.
- SNMP Driver – Support for SNMP V3 including SNMP V3 Security
- Other Driver Updates – Expanded functionality and improvements made to the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet, DNP, Honeywell UDC Serial, Modbus Suite, Siemens Suite, SNMP, UCON, and Yokogawa drivers.
