Two modules for fiber-optic cabling—the EK1501 EtherCat Coupler and EK1521 junction terminal—are designed to optimize wiring flexibility for industrial Ethernet applications.
They enable long-distance networking of up to 2km and support all common wiring topology methodologies: line, ring, tree and star. This flexibility is further enhanced with the ability to select different cable types. The EK1501 fiber-optic coupler connects EtherCat to any number of EtherCat I/O Terminals. The wiring connection is made via SC duplex sockets. An additional fiber-optic module can be optionally connected via a second port; an additional switch is not required.
