Developer Program a Million-Dollar Success

Nov. 3, 2006
OPC users flock to Cyberlogic’s developer program, signing up for more than $1.5 million of free OPC servers.
Cyberlogic announced this week that the company’s five-month-old DevNet program has delivered in excess of US $1.5 million in free server software to OPC users worldwide. “We are pleased to see that the users are recognizing the value our DevNet program is delivering,” says Dan Muller, the director of the Cyberlogic Developer Network. “We see systems integrators, automation and controls engineers, Information Technology professionals, distributors, educators and consultants joining DevNet. In effect, anyone who uses OPC servers to develop a system is finding the DevNet a great advantage.”Cyberlogic, a leading supplier of OPC server software based in Troy, Mich., announced in May its new DevNet program to ship free OPC servers and communication drivers to systems developers. The program, called the Cyberlogic Developer Network, or DevNet, allows each person with a DevNet license to use the software for development, test, support and demonstration purposes. Cyberlogic also included special activation privileges for DevNet subscribers. Each DevNet subscription product key can be used to activate software multiple times. This allows the user to have separate development, test and support computers without the need to purchase additional software licenses. Active DevNet subscribers receive new product activation keys and updated software automatically, and all DevNet subscribers have full access to free tech support from Cyberlogic. The DevNet licenses are for full-featured, retail versions of the software, but the DevNet licenses are not intended to be used in continuous production. A DevNet license may not be used as a substitute for purchasing a runtime license, if users do more than develop and test on their computers.DevNet is Easy to JoinThe Cyberlogic DevNet program is offered worldwide, and qualified systems developers can apply for a DevNet subscription at Cyberlogic’s website. Joining DevNet is also free.Cyberlogic is the leading independent supplier of OPC Servers and industrial communication software with more than 100,000 copies shipped to 130 countries. Cyberlogic OPC Server Suites are integrated, all-in-one products. Their built-in reliability features allow the configuration of an unlimited number of redundant networks and redundant data sources. Cyberlogic’s OPC Servers include a Health Monitor that continuously verifies the operation of each network and data source, automatically switching to backups when there is a problem. The built-in unsolicited messaging feature allows the configuration of an unlimited number of nodes that can initiate unsolicited data transmission, eliminating the need for polling for data. All components of Cyberlogic OPC Server Suites are developed by Cyberlogic, and all required device drivers are integrated into the Suites. The products do not require any third party add-ons.Find out more about Cyberlogic OPC Server Suites and DevNet at www.cyberlogic.com.
