Olympus Automation will be showing another UK first at the Total show, PDXTM Performance, OEE for smartphones and tablets, a system to provide the operations team with accurate, real-time visibility for every second of production. Now the operations team can be on the shop-floor pushing improvements, not tied to an office desktop generating yesterday’s reports.
We chose the Olympus Automation packaging and date control solution as reference visits proved their system to be reliable. Their variety of add-on modules meant we were able to include OEE reporting and live checkweigher links to meet the growing demands of our business.” Jarnail Sani, Director of Operations, Adams Foods.
PDXTM Performance is innovative software that ‘bolts onto' PDX Autocoding and captures and reports downtime in real-time. The system operates across smartphones, tablets, touch screens, desktops and large shop-floor displays and is designed to filter the noise and distractions and provide the operations team with just the information they need, when they need it.
Many companies base improvement decisions on yesterday’s reports which is too late. Decisions, like giveaway values need information now to allow the team to make immediate changes. It’s also important to show what’s happening next, for example, what went wrong the last time a similar changeover was completed.
Increasing pressure from customers and competitors means that production plants need to run faster, with less people, at lower profit margins with little stock. The measurement of OEE is a valuable first step in the improvement journey.
