Lexium MDrive integrated motors are now available in an even smaller size with the release of NEMA 17 motor products, completing the premium brand MDrive update that already includes NEMA 23 & 34 motors. The ultra-compact and robust NEMA 17 integrated motor product is available in 4 communication versions for ease of interface with a wide range of motion applications.
Lexium MDrive LMD42 products integrate a high torque NEMA 17 stepper motor with 12 to 48 VDC drive, controller and I/O, and an internal encoder with closed loop performance feature. Four product versions are available:
• Pulse/Direction: simple motor/drive with 4 control modes: torque, speed, velocity, and step clock direction
• Motion Control: fully programmable intelligence over RS-422/485, includes 11,120 bytes of flash memory
• Ethernet: ODVA compliant EtherNet/IP, and ModbusTCP, adapter class device with explicit or implicit messaging
• CANopen: operates as a DSP402 system node
LMD products with internal encoder operate in closed loop mode using hMTechnology, eliminating many negatives traditionally associated with stepper systems while delivering enhanced performance. According to Paul Kling, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, SEM USA, “The closed loop performance of Lexium MDrive stepper motor products provides numerous benefits, from eliminating loss of synchronization to lowering energy consumption and system heat. Availability of the motor’s full torque range may also deliver cost and space savings by allowing applications to function with a smaller motor. And for some servo motor applications, LMD products provide a lower cost option.”
