Safe for the Mining Industry! New Sendix ATEX / IECEx 71XX Encoders with Mining Certificate

May 21, 2015
Explosion protection belongs to the highest safety-relevant tasks in many industries and branches.

In areas such as the mining industry, high plant availability and the best protection possible for men and the environment have top priority. The measuring devices in charge of positioning tasks have to meet the strictest protection regulations.

With the new series of the incremental Sendix ATEX / IECEX 71XX encoders, Kübler expands its portfolio in the area of explosion-proof encoders. With their M2 mining certification, these encoders are approved and suitable for the use both in surface and underground mines. Used in compliance with their protection ability, these devices decisively reduce an existing explosion hazard.

Moreover, the Sendix ATEX/IECEx family covers a whole series of other safety aspects. With their explosion-proof encapsulated stainless steel housing in Safety-Lock design, they are approved throughout Europe for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. And, due to their new IECEx certification, they are now free for worldwide use. ATEX, IECEx assesses the conformity with highest international safety standards and makes sure that equipment and systems operated in potentially explosive atmospheres offers the required protection. With its compliance to international standards, Kübler's Sendix ATEX/IECEx encoder family successfully meets the increasing market requirements.

The shock and vibration-resistant pressure housing made of stainless steel with its IP67 protection level is another part of the safety package of the Sendix ATEX/IECEx family. These entirely saltwater-resistant encoders are even suitable for offshore plants.

In their incremental variant, they operate flexible with a resolution reaching 5000 pulses and, due to their wide temperature range from -40°C up to +60°C, they perform their work reliably even in harshest conditions. The explosion proof encoders ensure excellent safety against field breakdowns. Their compact size with a mounting depth of only 145 mm, a diameter of 70 mm and a space-saving cable outlet, complete the versatile and flexible application possibilities in potentially explosive areas.

As absolute multiturn or singleturn encoders, this series is available both with SSI and field bus interfaces.
