Comtrol to Debut Industry 4.0/IIoT Enabled PROFINET IO-Link Masters at Hannover Messe

April 12, 2016
Comtrol Corporation, a leading manufacturer of industrial device connectivity products and the official North American IO-Link Competency Center, today announced it has released three new IO-Link Masters for PROFINET at Hannover Messe.

The newest additions to the Comtrol line of IO-Link Master products, the 4-PNIO (4-Port IP67), 8-PNIO (8-Port IP67) and DR-8-PNIO (8-Port IP20 DIN rail) support the IO-Link 1.1 standard for full IO-Link device compatibility. The IO-Link Master PROFINET (PNIO) series combines the benefits of the IO-Link standard with PROFINET. You can easily integrate the IO-Link Master into an industrial network with existing and new PROFINET IO installations using Comtrol’s powerful web interface and Siemens TIA Portal. In addition, these new products are PROFINET certified by Profinet International (PI) ensuring PROFINET compatibility.

“Comtrol is proud to introduce its US-designed and manufactured IO-Link technology at Hannover Messe. IO-Link technology is a critical component of the Industry 4.0 and IIoT infrastructure. Comtrol’s IO-Link Master can send the important real-time sensor data from the plant floor to an enterprise system in order to make intelligent supply chain and manufacturing decisions. IO-Link technology and Comtrol’s MultiLink help make Industry 4.0 a reality.” Bradford Beale, President of Comtrol Corporation.

The IO-Link Master PROFINET products are Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0 ready with features such as embedded webpage sensor and configuration management. The embedded webpage offers the ability to: Configure IO-Link devices in minutes, ISDU (Indexed Service Data Unit) handling, Data Storage (automatic or manual) for Automatic Sensor Configuration, IO-Link Device Validation and Data Validation. IIoT and Industry 4.0 goals can be achieved through Comtrol’s unique MultiLink protocol handling that can send real-time sensor process data from the plant floor to software systems such as SCADA systems, OPC and Enterprise cloud platform providers. The IO-Link Master PNIO series will debut at Hall 9, D68.
