Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced JFE Engineering has standardized its engineering process design workflow with Schneider Electric. As an existing SimSci user, JFE Engineering chose to upgrade to SimCentral to take advantage of its unified platform-based solution, which is expected to result in greater opportunities for efficiency, collaboration and the re-use of simulation assets.

In a world where process optimization, improvement and engineering design strategies are highly dynamic, it is imperative engineering firms have the right workflow to accommodate client needs for agility and accelerated response times. Schneider Electric’s SimCentral is the first commercially available platform designed for agile process development within a modern software architecture that enables new levels of performance improvement and collaboration.

An important benefit JFE Engineering expects from their Schneider Electric solution has been to simplify and streamline the engineering workflow through the seamless integration of various simulation designs, including heat and material balances, hydraulic and sizing calculations and abnormal simulation scenarios. The capability of a rapid preliminary design during Front End Engineering Design (FEED) adds further efficiency. With one solution to address each of the process design phases, it is possible to improve productivity and responsiveness to client needs, saving JFE Engineering time and resources.

“JFE Engineering’s choice to standardize on Schneider Electric’s SimCentral was based on expected time and cost savings. Simulation designs can be carried out much faster, results have greater consistency and can be more easily shared. Now we can meet or exceed client needs faster, with greater precision,” said Kazuo Mayumi, Director, Engineering Design Center, Energy Industries Engineering Sector at JFE Engineering.

No two engineering design projects are the same based on unique requirements and attributes. A factor that led to JFE Engineering’s decision to pick SimCentral was based on how much it could be customized while delivering operational agility without sacrificing reliability. As a unified platform solution, all simulation tasks are modeled with a common data model, leading to a “single source of the truth” for data acquisition. This attribute enables improved sharing, model re-use and greater collaboration.

“Based on a long working relationship with JFE Engineering, we understand how their business needs and technical requirements have now evolved. SimCentral was created to meet these needs as the first commercially available platform that takes the simulation user experience to a new level. SimCentral enables a more productive, creative, and inspired workforce – resulting in greater innovation and accelerated delivery of process designs,” said Dr. Tobias Scheele, Senior VP Software at Schneider Electric.
