POSITAL has extended its range of LINARIX linear position sensors with new low-cost versions of these rugged and versatile industrial measurement tools.

POSITAL has extended its range of LINARIX linear position sensors with new low-cost versions of these rugged and versatile industrial measurement tools. The new products make use of compact, inexpensive plastic draw wire assemblies in place of the metal components used in earlier models. They are ideal for monitoring the linear position of components in medical equipment, hoists, forklift trucks and other material handling systems intended for indoor use.
Like their older counterparts, the new low-cost LINARIX sensors consist of a draw wire spool mechanism coupled to a rotary encoder (incremental or multi-turn absolute). As the wire is pulled out of the device, the rotation of the spool is tracked by the encoder. While the new plastic draw wire mechanisms are not as well suited to harsh environmental conditions as the metal-cased units, they offer lower costs, along with excellent accuracy, linearity and long, reliable service lives.
Both plastic and metal-cased linear position sensors are available in a wide range of output interface options, including analog (voltage or current) and digital interfaces (CANopen, DeviceNet, J1939, Ethernet POWERLINK, Modbus, Profibus DP, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET IO, SSI and incremental). A variety of cabling and connector options are also available.
The new low-cost LINARIX sensors are available in three measurement ranges: 1.25 m, 2.4 m and 7.5 m. These designs are compact and easy to position in complex machines. POSITAL LINARIX linear position sensors are part of Rockwell Automation’s Encompass™ network of complementary products. They are available with rapid delivery anywhere in the world, usually within 5 working days.
