Jumpstart Your Digital Transformation with Software Subscriptions

Nov. 11, 2019
AVEVA Flex provides subscription options that give customers access to the company’s comprehensive industrial software portfolio with lower initial costs, making it easy to grow as needs evolve and fast-track transformation.

Subscriptions have become the hottest trend in e-commerce, but they’re not just for meal kits, razors, streaming movies or other consumer services; they’re making waves in industry too. As manufacturers get increasingly comfortable with cloud-based offerings and service models of delivery (such as software-as-a-service and robotics-as-a-service), industrial software subscriptions are growing. The increasing availability of such options means that subscription-based automation services might be the ticket for achieving the digital transformation you know you need to undertake, without the steep upfront investment.

AVEVA Flex is a range of flexible subscription options that give customers access to the company’s comprehensive industrial software portfolio, including advanced human-machine interface (HMI) visualization, operations control and information management, manufacturing execution, and asset performance capabilities. With subscription-based, feature-rich software tiers, AVEVA Flex makes it easier to adopt the tools needed to get started on your digital transformation journey.

Though AVEVA has been offering software and services through subscriptions for some time now, AVEVA Flex is the company’s first end-to-end industrial software subscription program offering secure and reliable access to AVEVA’s software solutions. Customers can choose from an expanding scalable set of solutions as AVEVA continues to bolster its offering to support design, visualization, supervisory control, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, asset performance, maintenance, and condition management. With AVEVA Flex, customers can adopt the solutions they need to get started—paying only for capabilities as they’re needed—and then can revise software and license allocations as their needs evolve.

Italian steelmaker NLMK Verona was one of the first customers to take advantage of the AVEVA Flex subscription program. “The technical and commercial flexibility AVEVA Flex provides is fundamental [to our digital transformation] and will help us remain agile and successful into the future,” says Giovanni Borinelli, general manager at NLMK Verona.

The AVEVA Flex subscription options include:

  • AVEVA Subscription Access: Available in one-, three- or five-year terms, it provides access to individual solutions in AVEVA’s industrial software portfolio. Standard technical support is included with every subscription.
  • AVEVA Flex Credits: Also available in one-, three- and five-year terms, consumable credits can be redeemed for a variety of subscription tiers. Customers can interchange software tiers, options, and licenses as needs evolve. Standard technical support is included with each of the subscription tiers.
  • AVEVA Enterprise Subscriptions: Available in three- to five-year terms, these are customized subscriptions tailored to large multi-site enterprises. They provide customized access to AVEVA’s complete software portfolio, premium or elite technical support, and a dedicated customer success manager.

These subscription offerings provide a number of benefits, several of which are inherent to consuming software-as-a-service rather than buying the software outright. For example, customers automatically benefit from the latest technology innovations and most secure, recent versions of software while easily managing and adapting the distribution of licenses. The pay-as-you-go scheme means lower initial costs and quicker time to value. Users also have the flexibility to adapt the solution architecture at all points in the product lifecycle, including prototyping, design, and commissioning expansion; driving serious business agility and efficiency.

“This simplifies consumption of new capabilities and helps make digital transformation more easily digestible,” comments Craig Resnick, Vice President of ARC Advisory Group.
