Security: Wireless Network Protection

Feb. 11, 2011
With reports on security breaches appearing daily, the AirMagnet Enterprise, version 9.0, prevents access to unauthorized wireless networks and other information assets.
In most manufacturing environments, updates to WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) firmware are scheduled around production and can leave networks open to new security threats before upgrades. With the company's dynamic threat update technology, this system offers continuous protection and another layer of protection against network intrusions at all times. According to the company, the dynamic threat update technology is a first for wireless networks and were previously available only for wired environments.    The system features a new extensible security event detection-definition engine that identifies updated threat signatures. The product's policy signature database is now separate and no longer embedded in the server software, providing users the opportunity to share their own signatures in real-time and to the security community. Other enhancements include Enhanced Rogue-On-the-Wire detection, which offers increased speed and accuracy for the detection of rogue access points on a enterprise network. The system can also access signal-level information from Cisco controlled-based AP infrastructure that allows for accurate floor plan mapping using only one sensor for device detection.
