The opening of an Engineering and Development Center within the Asia Flow Technology Center in Nanjing strengthens the company’s overall presence in China and Asia Pacific.

The opening of an Engineering and Development Center within the Asia Flow Technology Center operated by Emerson Process Management (www.emersonprocess.com) in Nanjing, China brings Emerson’s total investment in the center to more than US$35 million and strengthens the company’s overall presence in China and Asia Pacific.

Opened in April, the new Engineering and Development Center expands the scope of Emerson’s Nanjing campus, which already operates as the Asian regional production and distribution hub, and ISO17025 accredited calibration center for Emerson Process Management’s flow metering and measurement technologies.

“We continuously strive to understand local customer requirements and now have the ability to respond to those needs with a local design team,” said Larry Flatt, vice president of Flow Group for Emerson.

Engineering and development capabilities being added to the facility will include sensor and electronics design, multi-fluid application testing, environmental testing and analysis, and modeling capabilities for Micro Motion Coriolis flow and density meters, Rosemount vortex and magnetic flowmeters, and Daniel ultrasonic and differential pressure flowmeters.

The site expansion includes adding design engineering office space and the addition of comprehensive engineering test and design equipment. Products designed and developed at this facility will be used to serve customers in the oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, marine, life sciences, food and beverage, metals and mining, and pulp and paper industries, according to the company.

The Chinese center “co-locates design engineers with marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain resources,” said Flatt. This combination of talent “substantially accelerates our ability to create new and innovative solutions that deliver value and unparalleled plant performance for our customers,” he added.
