Significant changes in materials and processes were accomplished, says Basile Waite, plant manager at Contemporary Controls (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. Among other things, stencil printer and reflow profiles were adjusted on the surface mount technology line, and a new flexible assembly system was purchased. Changes were also made on the plated through-hole line, including changing out the solder pot.
Waite adds that China is soon to release its own legislation similar to RoHS and the plant will make any necessary changes to be compliant.
