I/O System Earns ATEX, IEC Ex Certification

Oct. 28, 2011
Nearly 30 couplers, controllers and I/O modules from WAGO Corporation's WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM now carry ATEX and IEC Ex Certifications for operating in temperatures up to +60°C.

This extends fieldbus-independent support of the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM to a variety of hazardous apps in dust-laden process (corn/coal mills, cement and bio-gas plants) and energy management (gas/oil production) industries.

All-Inclusive:
Although designed for Zone 2/22 and non-hazardous locations, the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM safely integrates signals from sensors/actuators via Ex i segments. Components in Zones 0/22 and 1/21 that serve Ex i applications can be cost-effectively integrated into higher-level control systems without additional components, such as Intrinsically Safe barriers. For further details on IEC Ex- and ATEX-approved I/O, e.g., PROFIBUS couplers, 4-Channel digital input module and incremental encoder, contact WAGO: [email protected]
