OPC Foundation Announces Jane Gerold as Director of Marketing

New appointment demonstrates OPC Foundation’s commitment to increasing OPC adoption and promoting OPC as the leading global interoperability standard.

The OPC Foundation is pleased to welcome Jane Gerold as the Director of Marketing. In this role, Gerold will be responsible for creating marketing collateral and managing ongoing marketing communications projects.

“Bringing Jane on-board as the OPC Foundation Director of Marketing demonstrates our commitment to promote OPC as the leading global interoperability standard for industrial automation,” says Thomas Burke, president and executive director of the OPC Foundation. “Her breadth of experience and passion for manufacturing automation will help us serve the OPC community through our education, collaboration and compliance programs.”

Gerold brings more than 25 years experience in manufacturing automation and publishing to her new role as the OPC Foundation Director of Marketing. She began her career as a design engineer with Woodward Governor, working on sensor systems used in fly-by-wire aircraft controls. Later she joined Control Engineering magazine, where as associate publisher and editor she authored numerous technical articles and headed a staff focused on covering developments in the $130 billion global automation market.

In 2003, as editorial director, Gerold was a co-founder of the Automation World franchise, which serves manufacturing automation professionals with print publications, e-newsletters and web sites. Most recently, she ran her own consulting business, offering marketing and content development services to automation suppliers and associations.

Gerold holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
