CSA Group, a leading global provider of standards development, testing, and certification services, announced today the expansion of its testing and certification laboratory in New Taipei City.  Ash Sahi, President and CEO and Claudia Chan, Vice President North and Southeast Asia, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening of its new power tool laboratory in Taiwan.  It is one of the few laboratories in Taiwan to obtain the recognition of IAS (International Accreditation Service) ISO 17025.  The new CBTL (CB Testing Laboratory) will be able to provide clients with IEC 60745 and IEC 61029 testing and certification services on hand-held and desk machine tools as well as CB and EEV testing and certification services.
“Many tech companies on the Fortune 500 list have R&D centers in Taiwan. Together with the thriving local electrical and electronic industry, the demand for our testing and certification services has grown.  This new laboratory will provide superior localized testing and certification services for Taiwan’s manufacturers allowing them to reduce costs, and time-to-market while helping to verify products meet the applicable standards to reach global markets,” said Ash Sahi, President and CEO, CSA Group. “The expansion of our Taiwan laboratory demonstrates CSA Group’s continued commitment to provide high-quality service to our Asian clients.”
CSA Group opened its first testing and certification laboratory in Xinzhuang, New Taipei City in 2012, and provides testing and certification services to a number of local and international corporations for the Asian market.  The laboratory is staffed by experienced professionals with extensive knowledge of North American and international standards. It will offer customers testing and certification services to a number of global standards including IEC/CSA/UL 60950-1 and IEC/CSA/UL 60065, and provides product verification for audio/video, EEV/Energy Star, tools, transformers, information technology and household appliances categories.
“Taiwan’s electrical and electronic industry plays an important role in the global manufacturing chain with exports of $140.6 billion USD in 2012. With the latest expansion, the CSA Group Taiwan laboratory will be able to provide IT/AV and power tool testing and certification services to our customers,” said Claudia Chan, Vice President of North and Southeast Asia of CSA Group. “CSA Group will continue to increase investment and expand our infrastructure and services in hazardous locations and battery-powered devices in Taiwan. We are constantly seeking new strategies to support a one-stop approach for manufacturers who require multiple certifications for different markets.”
