ABB will welcome Dave Madden, an employee who is cycling across the U.S. for charity along with his friend Derek Fitzgerald, at its Warminster, PA facilty, for a welcome home reception and check presentation at noon on Tuesday, July 21. The two cyclists will stop in Warminster along with their support vehicle driver Maire Reynolds to visit with colleagues and friends before they continue on to complete their 3,400 mile journey.

Dave is the Standards & Certification Engineer at ABB’s Measurement & Analytics Warminster, Pennsylvania factory. Both riders started their journey at the Santa Monica pier in California on Tuesday June 9, 2015, and as of July 13th had cycled a total of 2,742.4 miles miles and made 844,900 pedal strokes and climbed a cumulative total of 100,903 feet in elevation.

The "Tour for a Cure" journey will take a total of 44 days and will end July 22nd on the beach in Avalon, New Jersey. ABB is sponsoring the ride, via its ABB Foundation, by matching all ABB employee charitable donations made in support of this great effort.

As he reaches the final days of his ride, Dave Madden commented: “This has been a life-changing experience for both me and Derek. And we couldn’t have done it without Maire, our vehicle support driver, who has been with us and supporting us every mile along the way. We have been amazed at the support we receive from not only friends, family and colleagues, but also from the many well wishers we met on our journey across the country. It hasn’t been easy, and some days were very tough, but the thought of those who will benefit from the donations we generate are what drives us forward.”

ABB’s Measurement & Analytics business built a webpage where anyone can follow Dave and Derek’s progress across the country and donate to show support. The website includes an interactive map that tracks their progress and shows key measurements at each stage of the journey.
