New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Controls Heavy-Duty Water Pumps Remotely

The challenging environment of a stone quarry is ideally suited for remote pump monitoring and management.

Stone quarries are not the safest places to walk into to check operations of water pumps in use. Yet effective pump operations are vital to ensure removal of water that comes from rainfall and runoff.

Mindful of the difficult conditions for managing pumps, one central Pennsylvania mining company decided to take a new approach: New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc., a supplier of aggregate, crushed stone, hot mixed asphalt, ready-mixed concrete and other construction materials, set about establishing monitoring capabilities via smartphone.

With control systems, hardware and software from Opto 22, the mining company ensures its electricians and mining technicians stay up to date on pump operations and can manage changing conditions wherever they are via a web browser.
