Ready to Take A Hoverbike Spin?

Could electric-powered hoverbikes be the hot thing from Santa this year?

Remember the hoopla over the hoverboard toy that was a Christmas favorite? Tech toy lovers and sports enthusiasts have new reason for excitement this year: a rideable hoverbike.

Hoversurf, a Russian drone company, released a video showcasing the Scorpion-3, a single-seat, electric powered hoverbike. In developing the hoverbike, the manufacturer says it focused on combining a motorcycle with quadcopter drone technology to create “an extreme sports instrument,” according to TheVerge.com. The design is inspired by heavy-duty sports utility motorbike frames, and the bike's movement mimics surfing through the air by changing altitude and direction.

The craft is aimed at both amateur and professional riders, and it employs its own custom-built software to impose limits on range and velocity to ensure a safe ride. The hoverbike is a crowdfunding project so of course, it’s looking for those brave investors.
