NEW Q5X SERIES HIGH POWER, MID-RANGE LASER DISTANCE SENSOR RELIABLY DETECTS CHALLENGING TARGETS OUT TO 2 METERS

Jan. 30, 2019
Banner Engineering, a leading provider of technology for industrial automation, today announced the release of the Q5X series of high power, mid-range laser distance sensors for reliable detection of challenging targets.

The Q5X sensor solves difficult distance-based applications, even at acute angles, at a range from 9.5 centimeters to 2 meters. The high-power laser sensor reliably detects difficult targets, including extremely dark objects, black targets against a black background, black targets against a shiny metal background, clear and reflective objects, and multicolor packaging.

With an intuitive user interface, the Q5X sensor is simple to deploy quickly, saving time and costs. In addition, dual teach mode enables the sensor to verify multiple conditions—such as part presence and orientation—with a single device, reducing inventory and maintenance costs.

The Q5X sensor is compact and flexible to meet a wide variety of mounting constraints thanks to industry-standard rectangular housing and 270-degree rotatable M12 QD. The durable sensor is also rated IP67 for reliable performance in wet environments.

The Q5X can be programmed via on-board user interface, remote teach, IO-Link, or optional Remote Sensor Display (RSD). The RSD enables remote setup and monitoring, and it stores up to 6 configurations to facilitate product changeover and simplify device replacement. The RSD can remain in-line for easy monitoring of sensors in difficult-to-reach locations, or it can be removed after configuration.

The Q5X series solves a wide variety of applications including part in place inspections; part motion complete; detection of black plastic, leather, and rubber parts; end of line pallet detection, shrink wrap detection; carton full/empty; box, tote, and pallet detection; detection of construction materials; and more.
