Advantech Announces New MIC-720IVA Platform with NVIDIA Jetson Nano for AI NVR Applications

March 20, 2019
Advantech, a leading provider of industrial automation solutions, today announces its new AI Network Video Recording (NVR) platform, MIC-720IVA, with the NVIDIA Jetson Nano, a small, powerful AI computer that delivers 472 GFLOPS of compute performance and consumes as little as 5 watts.

Advantech has been deeply involved with NVIDIA products since it transformed into an AIoT provider. Advantech has long adopted NVIDIA’s GPU cards for servers and edge systems in AI inference and deep learning. Now, Advantech has developed its first Jetson Nano product, the MIC-720IVA, aimed at the intelligent video analytics and NVR market.

Given Jetson Nano’s powerful performance, MIC-720IVA provides a cost-effective AI NVR solution for a wide range of smart city applications. MIC-7200IVA supports 8-channel 1080p30 decoding, encoding and AI inference computing. With 8 x PoE LAN ports, IP cameras can be easily deployed. It has storage space for 8 channels of 24/7 video recording for up to 30 days. MIC-720IVA also supports 4 x hot-swappable 2.5" HDD trays. This highly integrated system allows AI application developers to rapidly develop unique AI solutions based on Jetson Nano.

“NVIDIA Jetson is an energy-efficient and high-performance AI platform. It is ideal for compute-intensive embedded applications on the edge,” said Linda Tsai, president of Advantech Industrial IoT Group. “By closely collaborating with NVIDIA and our software partners, we’re able to develop new AIoT edge solutions for smart manufacturing and smart city applications.”

“NVIDIA Jetson brings intelligence to IoT solutions,” said Murali Gopalakrisha, head of product management of Autonomous Machines, NVIDIA. “Through our collaboration with Advantech, we’re making huge steps forward in making AIoT a reality.”

With MIC-720IVA and Jetson Nano, NVR applications will be able to adjust video monitoring from, “post-reaction support” to “reaction on the edge.” Advantech expects AI NVRs will encourage a revolutionary transformation in smart city applications.

Advantech MIC-720IVA will be shown in the Advantech booth at GTC 2019 from March 18 to March 21. The MIC-720IVA will be available for purchase in fall 2019.
