Small, But Mighty Hardy HI 6200 Weight Processors Solve Problems in Retail Application

May 24, 2019
Recently, two Hardy exclusive features in the Hardy HI 6200 Weight Processor, C2® electronic calibration and WAVERSAVER®, helped solve a problem for an OEM designing a machine for use in a retail setting.

The machine was a food grinder machine that pulverizes bulk product. There are two scales and two hoppers per machine so that the consumer can dispense two different products by selecting the weight to grind. The machine also gives the user a choice of creating their own mix using both products.

One issue was calibrating the scales. The retail locations are geographically dispersed making calibration by test weights an expensive, difficult prospect. The Hardy C2® electronic calibration feature provided quick and easy calibration of the weighing system without the need for test weights. By storing each load cell’s calibration curve inside a chip, it can be C2 calibrated, and proper scale installation verified. The result is a calibration that is easier, quicker, safer, and typically more accurate.

Previous designs were also having difficulty with the vibration that the grinder caused. Hardy's WAVERSAVER® core technology eliminates the effects that vibration from the grinder has on the scale weight signal, providing only true data for fast, accurate weight readings.

“The OEM sought out Hardy because he knew we were the experts in process weighing.” said Tim Norman, Hardy’s senior product manager. “The designer wanted to remove risk by leaving the weighing solution of the machine to Hardy.”

Ultra-compact at just 2 inches wide and 3 inches high (40 sq. cm), the HI 6200 features a high definition, color touch screen display that makes it easy to use in the field. With a built-in webserver, the HI 6200 provides powerful 24-bit processing for accurate weight readings even in the most adverse conditions.
