Wago Corporation: Up/Down Counter for Hazardous Locations

The 750-633 Ex i Up/Down I/O module records binary signals with NAMUR-Compliant levels within hazardous locations.
Sept. 1, 2012

The unit transmits the system's counter state to a controller or higher-level control system via coupler and fieldbus. The DIN-rail mount unit's modularity makes it suitable for expanding applications, such as supporting machinery within hazardous locations common to oil exploration and processing. The count direction (up or down) can be adjusted via hardware U/D input (Up/Down). A control byte sets or resets the counting process. The digital output (DO) is enabled via control byte or is activated based on counter value. The maximum counter's switching frequency is 20 kHz. The 2 mm-wide module's status is provided via on-unit LEDs: green for active up/down input, active CLK input (counter input) and activated DO, as well as red for short circuit/wire break of the up/down and CLK signal lines. Field and system levels are electrically isolated and the output is short-circuit-protected. The module's power is provided via separate 24 VDC power supply.
