The Industrial Automation Group of Advantech has launched a new range of eight port serial communication cards that use the PCI Express interface, giving it a faster data transfer rate than standard PCI cards, and comes with direct memory access (DMA) and surge and EFT protection.

With DMA, the card reduces CPU loading by allowing the processor to continue its tasks while the data transfer is in progress thereby, making the whole system more efficient. The serial input speed of the cards reach up to 921.6kbps with support for any baud rate and, can be manually configured by the user to meet their own needs. Cards with RS-485 also provide Automatic Direction Control for enhanced data transmission.
All of these features ensure that these PCI Express cards give users greater confidence for use in their industrial applications.
