SICK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems, machine vision, encoders and automatic identification solutions for factory and logistics automation, announced the launch of the AHS/AHM36 absolute encoders. In addition to a small 36 mm diameter, these singleturn and multiturn encoders have a 270-degree rotating M12 connector or cable outlet that enables flexible, time-saving installation in limited spaces.

Face mount flange, servo flange and blind hollow shaft versions are available — each with five different shaft diameters and various adapters. Intelligent diagnostic functions, such as velocity, temperature and power on counter, as well as fast data transmission rates help identify errors early, leading to improved productivity. Depending on the variant — either SSI or CANopen — these fully magnetic encoders are able to withstand dust, water jets and temperatures from -40° C to 100° C.

With an enclosure rating up to IP 67, the AHS/AHM36 encoders are suited for automated guided systems (AGS), industrial vehicles and utility vehicles, but can also be used in packaging machines, logistics applications and machine building.
