Advantech’s Industrial Automation Group is pleased to announce the APAX-5580 Control IPC with a wealth of communication ports such as GbE, USB 3.0, mPCIe, serial ports as well as the option to choose your processor.

The APAX-5580 is a PC-based control platform with comprehensive I/O modules, communication ports, and control software. It is particularly designed for integrating Operation Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) to take advantage of the Industrial 4.0 trend.

The APAX-5580 includes and Intel Celeron 1.6 GHz/Core i3/Core i7 1.7GHz processor, 4GB DDR3 memory, two GbE ports, one RS-232/485/422 port, one mSATA connector, two SD slots, two mini PCIe slots, dual power input, UPS support, and a 10 year lifetime RTC battery.

Unlike other standard IPCs, the APAX-5580 is a total modular system which can help developers build a system with a complete Advantech APAX product line to meet their exact needs without complicating their system infrastructure and reduce the amount of time to configure. With its hot swappable design, all the modules can be swapped in and out without interrupting the operation of the IPC.

As a control platform serving Smart Factory applications, the APAX-5580 can easily connect to other third party industrial devices. With integrated supporting modules, the APAX-5580 can connect to COM and CANbus devices and with an APAX-5430 SATA module, as well as an additional SATA SSD/HDD drive is allowed in addition to the one that comes with the APAX-5580, to allow a RAID 0/1 configuration.

The APAX-5435 iDoor module allows users to add a whole host of additional functions, such as fieldbus, to suit the specific connection or information needs from customers. Furthermore, the APAX-5340 battery modules allow continuous operation for up to two hours in the event of a power failure.

By having partnered with CODESYS, the APAX-5580 is able to provide a whole host of extra functions such as real-time Ethernet protocol and programming by IEC-61131-3, using target visualization via a connected screen and/or the web visualizations on remote devices via a web browser, thereby enabling controllers to be configured and operated using a web server via the Internet or intranet.
