Beckhoff Automation's Stefan Hoppe explains how the company's TwinCAT open automation software uses up to 36 cores of PC power to run multiple fieldbus systems and leverage multiple programming languages, thereby allowing single cores to be used to control motion, vision, HMI, PLC logic, multiple motors, etc. He also discusses how Beckhoff's IPC automation platform connects from fieldbus systems to the cloud for Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 applications.
