In today’s global marketplace where manufacturers continually look for ways to improve their
competitive position there remains an untapped potential for most organizations, increased safety.
Ask a manager or executive about the importance of safety and they will tell you about protecting
people or about avoiding fines. These are both important objectives, but they are focused on
avoiding negative consequences, not on striving towards a new level of performance for their organization. As a result safety initiatives are often seen as punitive or compliance activities, not as opportunities to improve the profitability of the business.
