Rod Locks

Jan. 31, 2011
Nexen Group Inc. announces the RLSS Series Rod Locks, Generation 2, now available with an optional embedded engagement sensor.
The spring-engaged, air-released rod locks deliver reliable holding forces up to 5000 lbs with very low backlash. Now, generation 2 models are available with an optional magnetic inductive sensor that can improve the overall safety of the machine by creating a monitoring system that allows feedback during operation. The magnetic inductive sensor is simply fastened to a T-slot in the housing to detect rod lock engagement (customer supplied Reed switches are also compatible).RLSS Series Rod Locks are specifically designed for reliable high-precision gripping, ensuring accurate positioning throughout the performance of other tasks. A clamping collar applies a holding force 360 degrees around the cylinder rod, allowing the rod lock to consistently deliver the highest amount of force in the smallest package possible—without causing rod displacement. The design results in minimal wear on the cylinder rod, increasing service life and accuracy while reducing maintenance requirements.RLSS Series Rod Locks, Generation 2 are available in a broad range of industry-standard sizes—including ISO and NFPA—as well as custom sizes to meet specific application requirements. Rod locks are IP67 rated, withstanding washdown environments and other demanding industrial motion control applications. Models are CE marked and RoHS compliant. Additionally, the new features help machine builders reach compliance with Energy and other Safety standards. The versatile sizes and ratings make RLSS Series Rod Locks, Generation 2 well suited to the following applications:  Automotive manufacturing   Robotics   Inspection equipment   Transfer equipment   Injection molding equipment   Food processing   Packaging machinery   Material handling   Machine tool   Aerospace   Positioning equipment Nexen Group, Inc - www.nexengroup.com
