Integrated Multi-axis Machine Control

June 1, 2009
Based on Core2 Duo processor technology, the APC820 integrates space-saving, high-performance PC functionality into the vendor’s Acopos multi drive systems for multi-axes machines.
The Core2 Duo enables Windows XP and the real-time operating system to run parallel to each other on separate processor cores. With projects developed in the vendor’s Automation Studio, new options and complex automation tasks that were previously distributed over a number of system platforms can be brought together in a single device. The APC820’s integrated Smart Display Link allows up to four automation panels to be connected over a distance of up to 160m. Real-time communication between the APC820, I/O and drives via a Powerlink interface helps achieve cycle times down to 200µs and precise timing of less than 1µs.B&R Industrial Automation Corp.www.br-automation.com770.772.0400
