The ION Digital Drive with field-oriented control is designed to provide greater motor efficiency, and higher top-end rotation speed than alternate methods for brushless DC and step motors.
Designers using this approach can achieve higher top speeds and increase motor efficiencies up to 95 percent, says the vendor. The ION Digital Drive is a fully enclosed, single-axis module that provides high-performance motion control, network connectivity and amplification in a rugged, easy-to-use package for DC brush, brushless DC or step motors. ION utilizes the Magellan Motion Processor, which provides a flexible and powerful instruction set to initialize and control the motion application, monitor performance, and synchronize overall behavior.
