Low-end Controller

Designed for end users and OEMs who need a cost-effective, low-end controller with the flexibility of online editing, the Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1100 controller carries a list price of $550.

“Manufacturers have been spending thousands of dollars on high-end controllers just to get online editing functionality, and we knew we could provide a better solution,” says Mike Foley, business development manager at the vendor. “Our new microcontroller lets users make adjustments to programs, including PID loops, while still online.” An embedded communications port in the MicroLogix 1100 enables data sharing across a production facility, while an embedded Ethernet Web server enables remote access to control data. A built-in multi-purpose text LCD display provides basic controller and I/O status information. The display provides the ability to monitor and make changes to bit and integer data values from the display, which may eliminate the need for a stand-alone operator interface in some applications.
