Modular Control and I/O

May 1, 2005
The X20 System is a slice system that is a complete control solution as well as a remote I/O system, says the vendor. It can be used as an addition on a standard fieldbus to expand existing control systems, and it is also a complete controller, which demonstrates its full performance capability when combined with X20 System CPUs.

Component density of up to 12 I/O channels per X20 System saves installation space. The X20 System is well-suited for both remote or local control architectures. The individual modules communicate via the X2X Link backplane. The vendor’s Automation Studio development software supports developing machines with many variations. The program can automatically detect the construction of the system based on the configuration of the modules being used and loads only the program modules and functions required for the variation.
