When used with the integrated PLC 317-2DP, the Sinumerik 840D NCU 573.5 computer numeric control provides users with approximately 160 percent higher numerical control performance and 300 percent better PLC performance over previous versions, as well as more CNC user memory.
When expanded to the maximum, the NCU 573.5 has 31 axes/spindles and 10 channels/10 mode groups. According to the vendor, the 840D has been specified by leading manufacturers for high-speed aerospace machining. Also new for the machine tool market are ePS Network Services, an Internet-based service for machine tool manufacturers and end-users. ePS supports maintenance processes and forms a cross-company service platform between OEMs and machine operators.
