The PXI-8187 features a 2.5 GHz Intel Pentium 4-M processor and up to 1 Gbyte of double data-rate SDRAM (DDR-SDRAM), and is billed by the vendor as the industry’s highest performance 3U PXI embedded controller.

Engineers can use the PXI-8187 for applications ranging from high-performance automated systems to low-cost embedded systems. The controller’s rugged, industrial packaging make it well-suited for performing a variety of functions in harsh environments, including machine monitoring and control, functional test and data acquisition. The PXI-8187 controller incorporates an extensive set of peripherals such as hard drive, serial, USB, GPIB and Ethernet into a single module to ease system integration. The controller operates with all PXI and Compact PCI peripheral modules and is available with Windows XP/2000 or the vendor’s LabVIEW Real-Time operating system installed. The PXI-8187 is priced from $4,495.
