The ControlLogix Controller and SERCOS Interface Module combines an Allen-Bradley 1756-L6x family ControlLogix controller with a SERCOS interface motion module.
It is billed as a cost-effective option for OEMs and end users who require both the performance and functionality of the ControlLogix platform and motion control capabilities for small, low-axis-count machines. The module provides control for three axes of ControlLogix integrated motion. Users can also add a second motion interface module in the ControlLogix rack, for up to six axes total. The module uses RSLogix 5000 v.13 programming software for configuration. With 38 different motion instructions included as part of the controller instruction set, users can address a range of applications without need for separate programming software, the vendor says. In addition, the combination module supports ladder, function block, sequential function chart and structured text programming. The module supports CompactFlash memory to provide removable and portable nonvolatile storage for user programs, tag data, and the controller and SERCOS interface firmware.
