The Ethernet EISX(M) Series managed switch, part of the CTRLink family, is intended for high reliability situations where outdoor temperatures are expected.
It offers eight 10/100BASE-T twisted-pair ports while supporting the SNMP protocol. Besides the conventional features found in standard plug-and-play switches, such as auto-negotiation, half- or full-duplex operation and flow control, the EISX(M) Series includes features such as VLAN, trunking, Quality of Service and a programmable fault relay that can be connected to a supervisory system. Individual port parameters ensure simple configuration via a console port attached to a terminal emulation program. The managed switch functions as an SNMP agent to provide information on the status of the various ports on the switches. The SNMP consists of a collection of managed objects that can be queried by a manager to indicate the status of the network or any particular device. Using this data, operators and maintenance personnel, at a central location, can monitor the entire network by observing selected devices and pinpoint potential problems before they happen. The EISX8M-100T with eight twisted-pair ports is priced at $895 per unit.
