Building Automation

Jan. 1, 2004
The compact BAS Switch addresses control panel installation concerns in using Ethernet in building automation systems. The switch installs with four fasteners and can be powered from the same control transformer that powers other building automation equipment.

When the user employs switching technology, the device provides five 10/100 Mbps shielded RJ-45 ports. Each port supports the auto-negotiation protocol in order to select data rate, duplex and flow control. All five ports are auto-MDI/X compliant, such that any port can function as an uplink port to another switch, omitting crossover cables in the field. Once power is removed and reapplied, the BAS Switch will return to operation without fail. The $150/unit device can be powered from an unregulated DC power source (10-36 V) or from an AC power source (8-24 V, 47-63 Hz), and is UL 508 Listed for industrial control equipment.
