Machine-Mount Motor Starter

Sept. 1, 2003
Offered as an alternative to centralized, control cabinet-mounted motor starters, the Allen-Bradley ArmorStart is a pre-configured combination motor starter that requires no additional enclosures and features a modular, plug-and-play design for mounting on factory machines near the motor.

“Traditionally, engineers have built machines and control cabinets as separate units, which required massive amounts of wiring to interconnect the two,” says Brian Taylor business manager, electronic power components, at the vendor. ArmorStart, deployed directly on the machine, reduces potential for wiring problems because of shorter wiring runs and fewer connections, he says. Equipped with an IP67/NEMA Type 4 enclosure, ArmorStart can be used with motors ranging from 1/2 HPto 10 HP at 50/60 Hz for non-reversing and reversing applications with a voltage range from 200-460VAC.
