The New Generation CEC is a highly integrated, compact and robust embedded computer system, based on the Intel Atom (Bay Trail) Processor E3800 Series with single, dual, and quad core CPUs.

With a case size of 62x162x118 mm (2.44 x 2.44 x 4.65 inches), the unit operates from -40 to 85 ºC (-40 to 185 ºF) without a fan and draws 8 to 18 W from an 8 to 36 V supply. A configurable power management provides sleep currents down to 100µA, supporting wake capability (Ignition/RI). Various wake sources (Ignition signal, RS-232 Ring indicator, or Wake On LAN), mass storage choices of mSATA, 2.5-inch HD, or soldered down eMMC. The main board has up to five RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports, three USB 2.0, one USB 3.0, display port, one RS-232 interface, and a mPCIe/mSATA full size slot. An additional RS-232 or RS-422/RS-485 can be added. The main board is also available in a depopulated version. The RJ45 connectors can be replaced with M12 connectors or SFP cages. An expansion board interface a board interface offers two PCIe, two HSIC, two UART, SATA, SDIO, LPC and I2C. This allows a maximum on customization for any I/O Boards, allows to extend the system with additional interfaces. For example: GPIOs, additional serial ports, Gigabit Fiber, CAN , miniPCIe slots even PCI/104-Express port.
