Safety: Software Module Navigates HAZOP Process

April 26, 2011
Part of the exSILentia 3.0 software suite, the new PHAX software module guides users through the Hazard and Operability study (HAZOP) process.
The safety software enables users to determine the required Safety Instrumented Level (SIL) for a Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) and calculate the achieved SIL. The new software module identifies and documents hazards, hazardous events and associated sequence of events. It documents important facts while assigning attributes to safeguards and recommendations identified as potential SIFs or alarms. IEC 61508 certified, the tool suite also simplifies data flow from the module to SIL selection/verification and alarm rationalization via a direct data exchange with the company's exSILentia and SILAlarm tools. This software can produce complete reports for compliance with standards such as ANSI/ISA 84.00.01:2004, IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. exidawww.exida.com
