Hannover Fair 2011: Safety & Control

April 7, 2011
At the Hannover show, the company touts the CPX terminal that comes with Profisafe and optimizes valve safety.
The CPX-FDVA-P is an electronic module for the CPX terminal and works with the Profisafe fieldbus protocol, and it can be used with Profinet bus nodes. This module, via Profisafe, can safely disconnect valve voltage from the company's VTSA valves, completely integrated into the valve terminal. This integration offers protection against unexpected start-up, pressure and voltage zones shutdown, reversing motion and the elimination of external wiring.   The CPX terminal has three digital output channels, two external and one internal channel. The internal channel disconnects the power supply to the valves and all three channels are self-monitoring dual channels. This meets ISO13849 or SIL3 standards.   Applications include automotive, specifically welding benches for car body production, gripping and clamping tools for robots and manual workstations. Other applications with Profisafe are paper and printing machines, packaging and material handling. Festo AG & Co. www.festo.com>> Related Content: Safety Networks are Getting Wired with Control
