The company's console recorder stores all screens an operator sees before, during and after a critical event, and it can record every operator task during that time. With the value edition of the console recorder, it can monitor up to six operator consoles, including screen displays and operator actions via a keyboard and mouse. The recorded data can be reused for training purposes, process improvements and justifications to various regulatory bodies. With the extreme low-power (XLP) option, version 5.2 allows the system to hibernate—via solar power and batteries—until a signal from an intrusion alarm, motion detector or an operator wakes it. At that point, the system begins to record live video and sends a short "alarm clip" to a remote operator at a central HMI/SCADA system. It continues to record data until commanded to return to hibernation. Ideal applications for the XLP option include well sites, pumping stations, pipelines, offshore platforms and other remote areas where 120Vac line power is not available. The recorder can virtually use any network provided, ranging from low-speed radio modems to satellite and cellular links, the co. says. Other features include the company's Enterprise Edition of the Console Recorder that can synchronize video taken in the plant from multiple cameras with real-time and historical process data. The video system works with a variety of HMI/SCADA vendors. A recent blog (Video with Your SCADA) post details the company's video platform with Micro Controls SCADA product.
