Advantech introduces the EKI-1121L and 1122L ARM-based Industrial Communication Controllers that offer pre-installed embedded Linux operation system for user-developed communications, monitoring and control applications.
Based on an ARM 7 SoC (System on Chip), the gateways feature a dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports, and one or two serial ports that are configurable for RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485. The products are Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Class 1, Division 2 approved and are suited for oil and gas, mining and chemical processing applications. Suited for demanding environments, the products are packaged in metal IP30 rated chassis; also include DIN-rail and direct panel mounts for easy installation. Paul Wacker, Advatntech Product Manager for Industrial Communication Products, says,"The inherent networking capabilities of LInux mean these devices are ideal for protocol conversion and store-and-forward data collection gateways."
