Atom Processors in HMI

April 12, 2010
Intel's Atom processor has made a name for itself as the core of the new genre of low-power networking laptops. Now it is used to build industrial HMI.
In order to provide a wider range of energy-efficient industrial displays with powerful processors, Beckhoff has released the new CP77xx series Panel PCs. With the CP77xx series, Beckhoff extends its Panel PC family with another high-performance variant that features Intel Atom processors. The solid state CP77xx Panel PCs are designed for mid-range control platforms and as human-machine interface (HMI) units for machine builders and plant engineering applications. The control panel uses 1.1 or 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processors, has a low housing depth between 1.1-in and 1.8-in (28 and 45 mm), depending on the screen size, and can be equipped with a 6.5, 12, 15 or 19" display screen. A Compact Flash card is accessible under a cover in the back of the panel. Two RJ 45 Ethernet connections and an RS232 interface in the rear of the panel are included as standard features. A 2-port USB interface is available as an option.www.beckhoff.com
