HCF Registers First Chinese-manufactured Hart Device

Nov. 12, 2007
Hart-compliant flowmeters manufactured by Chongqing Sichuan Instrument Co. could be the first of many Chinese-made Hart devices.
The Hart Communication Foundation (HCF, www.hartcomm.org) announced on Oct. 15 the registration of the first Foundation verified Hart-compliant device to be manufactured by a company in China. Chongqing Sichuan Instrument Co. Ltd., of Chongqing, China, has successfully tested and registered its FlowMaster MFC series flowmeter with the Foundation. “The Foundation defines test and registration requirements for all registered devices. This rigorous registration and testing process guarantees interoperability between different device suppliers,” says HCF Director of Programs Ed Ladd Jr. “This is the only way for a manufacturer to obtain a “Hart Registered” certificate, and users can be confident that a device carrying this mark is a verified Hart-enabled device.” Using Hart-built test tools, suppliers test their device to confirm conformance and submit a report and the device to the Foundation. The HCF audits the report and conducts an independent test to confirm communication compliance to the Hart Protocol Specification. “We are very excited to register what we hope is only the first of many “Hart Registered” devices to come from our member companies in China,” Ladd said.Changqing Sichaun Instrument Co.
