The Chemical Industry Data Exchange (CIDX) has issued a call for participation for the launch of six new project teams in 2006.
CIDX, a trade association and standards organization with members comprised of chemical companies and technology solution partners, annually identifies common issues facing the chemical sector and established multiple work teams from member volunteers. These volunteers assess issues, make recommendations for further work and, ultimately, create, maintain and implement free industry standards that improve the ease, speed and security of e-business transactions within the sector.
In 2006, CIDX is launching six projects and accepting additional participants, says Ken Hutcheson, CIDX standards director.
The six projects, which are in various stages of launch are:
• Order-to-Cash (OTC) Business Process Guidelines (BPG) Phase 3. This team will create additional documentation around the OTC business cycle so that users of this message in the Chem eStandards will more quickly and efficiently connect with other trading partners.
• Logistics Business Process Guidelines (BPG) Phase 2. This team will improve existing logistics messages related to ocean/marine transport of hazardous goods and load building.
• Supply Chain Collaboration (SCC) Business Process Guidelines (BPG) Phase 2. This team will assess how member companies are using existing SCC BPGs and make recommendations for refinements.
• Radio Frequency ID (RFID) Phase 1. This team will establish a relationship with the EPCGlobal RFID standards body, develop specific chemical industry requirements for RFID technologies and recommend chemical industry usage and potential integration with EPCGlobal.
• Core Components Framing. This team will develop a framework of options for how the chemical sector might incorporate its version of XML standards with other industries that have developed their own versions of XML standards.
• Web Services Framing. This team will deliver a white paper to the industry that looks at web services standards development and recommends actions for the chemical sector based on potential use and value to the industry.
