Emerson Acquires Groveley Detection to Expand Safety Offerings

June 24, 2013
Groveley’s ultrasonic gas leak detection technology feeds more monitoring solutions through Emerson Process Management into the oil and gas arena.

Broadening its involvement even further into the oil and gas industry, Emerson Process Management has acquired Groveley Detection, which makes ultrasonic gas leak detection solutions for offshore and onshore oil and gas installations. UK-based Groveley Detection’s particular claim to fame is its piezoelectric-based ultrasonic gas leak detector technology engineered for extreme industrial applications.

Groveley will be folded into Emerson’s Rosemount Analytical business unit, expanding its safety monitoring portfolio. With the completed acquisition, Emerson significantly strengthens its position in the global safety monitoring market, adding Groveley’s technology to the existing Net Safety fixed gas detection and flame detection product line. Groveley’s products are used in a broad range of energy exploration and processing applications, in addition to several industrial plant settings.

“The acquisition of Groveley expands our capabilities to offer the most comprehensive solution to our customers for their total safety monitoring requirements,” said Ken Biele, president of Emerson Process Management’s Analytical Group. “The addition also leverages our companies’ synergies in sales, marketing, engineering and other key operational areas.”
