With a long-standing reputation for delivering innovative factory automation products and solutions, along with a fervent commitment to continuing education, Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc., extends its skills development initiatives to the university-level classroom. A Takumi VC 0852 CNC machine with Mitsubishi Electric M70 controls has been installed at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières to train a new generation of factory automation professionals. The Takumi CNC machine also incorporates Mitsubishi Electric CNC servo drives, NC drives and servo motors.
The Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, also known as University of Quebec at Three Rivers, is a trade/technical university located in Quebec, Canada, teaching more than 12,500 students across eight campuses. The new equipment will be put to use beginning in the fall 2013 semester within the university’s mechanical engineering department. Students being trained with Mitsubishi Electric technology could go on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, an associate degree, or an engineering certificate.
The inclusion of Mitsubishi Electric technology in the university’s training curriculum is part of a longer term strategy for the company. “We’re proud to participate in the skills development of students at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres. Helping to provide a capable industrial workforce is part of our commitment to our customers,” said Tom Pleuger, Taiwan account manager, technical service & support, Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. “There’s a need to train a new generation of skilled metalworking personnel, and Mitsubishi Electric Automation is a partner in that development. We’re looking forward to welcoming these students into the manufacturing workforce in a few years.”
