Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority of UAE Selects OSI Technology for SCADA/EMS

New technology will create a comprehensive energy management system for government-owned utility.
Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) and partner Global Technologies Ltd. have been awarded a new contract by Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to replace their existing SCADA/EMS system with a state-of-the-art new SCADA/EMS system based on OSI’s monarch platform.
SEWA is a government owned energy utility. It undertakes generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and distribution of water and natural gas in the Emirate of Sharjah. The company has a total installed generation capacity of over 2,384 megawatts (MW) and a high voltage transmission network of over 365 kilometers.
This new SCADA/EMS system for SEWA includes the advanced functionality presented by OSI’s next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Remote Console GUI; Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem; Advanced Alarm Management System; Real-time and Historical Trending; Communications Front-end Processor; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; Inter-control Center Communications Protocol; Historical Recording System; Calculation & Scripting Subsystem; Disturbance Data Collection; Load Shed and Restoration; Automatic Generation Control and Dispatch; Short-Term Load Forecasting; Network Security Analysis; Operator Training Simulator; Equipment Outage Scheduler; and Voltage Stability Analysis software products.
